You can't rent a car in Bermuda, but you can rent a Twizzy. These "mini-car" two seaters help you explore the island on your own terms - perfect for the free-spirited adrenaline junkie.
The real Bermuda joy, for me, is finding secluded coves, remote islands, and secret spots (guaranteed better than Horseshoe Bay) Zipping around the island on a jetski is an amazing way to do this.
If you don't cliff jump in Bermuda, can you call yourself an adrenaline junkie? This hidden gem (shh) is the perfect spot! It's worth noting, though, that its a little less accessible than Admiralty - you have to climb a physically demanding rope.
Admiralty House is my number one recommendation for 20-somethings. Jump off the cliffs, swim into a carved cove from the ocean, climb the charming steps, rinse and repeat. Pure joy.
This is a place worth a short visit if you're into arts and history. It's the central hub for all things creativity in Bermuda, so you should have some fun looking in the galleries.
The waterfront promenade is the heart of the capital, where quaint colonial buildings painted in pinks, yellows, and blues overlook the harbor. There is no shortage of charming Bermudian business dress code: knee-high navy blue socks, a dress shirt, and - of course - brightly colored Bermuda shorts. Shop around and experience the organ of the country.
Visit Hamilton's oasis - enter from Par-la-Ville Road, pass through Bermuda's oldest limestone moongate, and follow mosaic footpaths to find lush gardens, sculptures, a koi pond, and wild chickens. It's the perfect place to take a much-needed break from the madness of this itinerary.
Walk around the city and visit one of the 70 eateries that Hamilton boasts. The city is a melting pot of cultures and you can tell through our restaurants. My top recommendations are Devil's Isle or Brew for a trendy brunch, Portofino if you're feeling Italian for lunch, and Deja View for local sushi on the water.
The hidden gem experience in Bermuda. On the remote outer reefs of Bermuda, you walk on the sea floor in a helmet (so you can breathe air). Among the reefs, the tropical fish are so friendly that they will try to get petted by swimming up to you. I can think of no better way to experience our magical oceans.
I cannot recommend Cheesy enough. An embodiment of the trademark Bermudian friendliness, he is pure adventure. With the provided boards, Ian will teach you how to surf with a smile and a great conversation. His signature beach is Horseshoe Bay, where he'll take you to the beach's hidden cliff-jumping spots if you ask. (As long as don't tell the other tourists)
